Frequently Asked Questions
What are dual subtitles?+
Dual subtitles show two languages simultaneously — the source language (Korean, Japanese, or Chinese) on one line and the English translation on the next. This is ideal for language learners who want to read along in both languages.
How do I create dual subtitles?+
Upload your source-language subtitle file (e.g., Korean SRT) and your translated subtitle file (e.g., English SRT). The tool automatically matches entries by timestamp and combines them into a single dual-language file.
How are subtitle entries matched?+
Each source entry is matched to the closest target entry by start-time, within a 2-second tolerance window. If no match is found, the entry is still included with a blank partner line so nothing is lost.
What output formats are supported?+
You can export dual subtitles as SRT, WebVTT (VTT), or ASS/SSA format. SRT is the most universally compatible; ASS supports advanced styling for italic source text.
Can I choose which language appears first?+
Yes! Use the "Source on top" toggle to control whether the source language or the English translation appears on the first line of each subtitle block.
